HISTORICAL NOTE

The scoring mechanism prior to 2002 was 2 points for a first-place finish, 1 for a second-place finish, but 0 points if the team is not all from the same club. Thus, many of the above winners received zero points in the original tally because they were a mixed team. This inequity was the motivation for the new scoring scheme. The original and revised results are as follows:

ClubOriginalRevised
Burnside684
Canadian Pacific236
Central Saanich00
Cowichan240
Gordon Head224
Juan de Fuca584
Lakehill336
Oak Bay29386
Sidney00
Victoria28376
Victoria West28384

The results are presented with the newer scoring scheme so that the individual statistics may be computed. Note that the winning club is the same in both schemes. If it weren't then this footnote would be a lot longer. :-)

HISTORICAL NOTE TO THE HISTORICAL NOTE (June 2003)

Rick Armstrong pointed out that he was representing Vic West in the Champ of Champs that year. This, and a couple of other spelling corrections, have been incorporated.
